Ohio Achievement Assessments - OAA

A new name for the same tests we've been taking! Students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will participate in the state mandated assessments during the week of April 19-23. The Newsletter has some helpful hints as to what parents and guardians can do to help their child be more successful.

Grade 3 will take Reading on Monday and Math on Wednesday.

Grade 4 will take Reading on Tuesday and Math on Thursday.

Grade 5 will take Reading on Monday, Math on Wednesday, and Science on Friday.

Grade 6 will take Reading on Tuesday and Math on Thursday.

Worley Robotics Team Takes FIRST Place!

Mr. Tulip and the Sixth Grade Robotics Lego Team took first place at the most recent C.A.R.L. (Canton Area Robotics League) competition. The team was judged in Research, Technical Knowledge, Teamwork Competition, and Robot Competition. These students took FIRST PLACE: Morgan Lackey, Jeremiah Lee, Dylan Sutton, Matt Yacko, Matthew Jenkins, Brad Wagner, and Chris James. Congratulations to Mr. Tulip and his team for an outstanding performance!

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten students for the 2010-2011 school year may register at Worley on Tuesday, March 23, from 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM. The following documents should be brought with you for registration: Birth Certificate, Shot Records, Social Security Card, Proof of Residence, and Custody Papers. Holiday Program

Join in our holiday celebration! Kindergarten and Grade 4 students will present a musical program on Thursday, December 10, from 6:30-7:30 PM in the gym. The community is invited. All students must be accompanied by an adult.

NEW Arrival and Dismissal Times

Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, the Tardey Bell will ring at 8:10 AM. Students should arrive no earlier than 7:55 AM.

Canton City Bus riders, Day Care Van riders, and all WALKERS will be dismissed at 2:20 PM.

All CAR riders will be dismissed at 2:25 PM.

Literacy Night

Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 6:30-7:30, Worley will hold their annual Literacy Night and Book Fair. Students can dress like their favorite book or poem character. Baskets will be raffled with a pizza party for the class with the greatest attendance. Activity Stations will be in the gym with treats for students! Of course, the Book Fair offers the latest and greatest reading material for our students' enjoyment. Don't miss the fun!

Open House

This Thursday, Sept. 3, Worley will have an Open House. We'll meet in the gym at 6:30 PM for a brief meeting. Dr. Evans, Canton City Schools Superintendent, will be the speaker. After that, families are invited to enjoy pizza provided by our PTA and visit their child's classroom to meet the teacher. Come and help celebrate Worley's Excellent rating!

For the second year in a row, Worley is rated as Excellent! Thanks to all the students, staff, and families who worked together for success. This year, our goal will be to surpass this rating with the Excellent with Distinction rating, which is earned after being Excellent for more than 2 straight years. We can do it!

Recognition

Sixth Grade will have their Recognition Program on Monday evening, June 1, 2009. It will begin at 6:30 PM in the Worley gym. This should be a wonderful event honoring our students as they move forward into Seventh Grade.

Recognition for students in Grades K-5 will take place on Wednesday, June, 3 in the gym. Grades K, 1, and 2 will have their program at 9:00 AM. Students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 will celebrate their awards in the afternoon, beginning at 1:00 PM.

Please come and celebrate your child's many achievements!

Spring Music Program
