Research shows that students usually backslide in Reading during the summer months. We encourage you to have your child read during vacation. Read anything - the newspaper, cereal boxes, billboards, comic books, books from the library, video game directions, microwave popcorn boxes, etc. JUST READ ! ! !

Kindergarten Registration

Worley will hold Kindergarten Registration on Tuesday, April 8, from 8:30-11:30 am and from 12:30-2:30 pm. New Kindergtarten students will be able to tour the school and visit a Kindergarten classroom. Parents will need to bring the following items with them when registering their child: proof of residency, birth certificate, shot record, any custody papers, and social security card.

Student - Led Conferences

Conferences will be held on February 19 and February 21 from 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM. Schedules will be sent home with students. It is extremely important for parents, students, and teachers to meet and discuss as a team the progress in learning. If, for some reason, you cannot attend the Conference with your student, please contact your child's teacher to re-schedule. Child care will be provided by our Sixth Grade Leadership Team. PTA will also be having a Book Fair each evening.

Character Counts Artwork Contest Winners

Holiday Program

Celebrate Two of Worley's Finest!

Congratulations to Mrs. Mann! She is Ohio's All Star Teacher as selected by the U.S. Department of Education in Washington D.C. We are very proud of her accomplishments.

We also celebrate a sixth grader, S'reane Parks. She was Worley's "Person of Character" and represented our school at the Stark County Character Counts event. Congratulations!

Family Literacy/Math Night

Thursday, October 11, we will celebrate a night of fun and games with our families. We will meet in the gym for a presentation by our Kindergarten students. From there, travel to your child's classroom to engage in math and reading activities. Each Worley student who attends will receive a Worley Rocket book sack. An adult must accompany the student. We'll see you from 6:30-7:30 PM for a great evening!

May 10 Memorial Day Celebration

On Thursday, May 10, at 6:30 PM, we will have a special Memorial Day Celebration. We will also honor USMC Private Heath Warner - a former Worley student and McKinley graduate. Music will be performed by our Kindergarten and First Grade students. Mayor Creighton will be our featured speaker. We welcome our entire community to attend this evening. A reception will follow immediately after the program.

Ohio Achievement Testing Time

Enrichment Opportunities

Starting in January, students in grades 2-5 will have the chance to participate in some enrichment classes. Mrs. Mezquita will instruct a class on basic sign language. Our chess club instructor will be Mr. Dubinsky. Mrs. Milnes will offer a class entitled Kids Are Authors and Illustrators. Mr. Gill will present a physical education skills class in the gym. Information will be sent home the week of January 8. Registration will be on a first come first serve basis. We are pleased that these opportunities are being offered and grateful for the adults who are donating their time and talents.

Book Fair

COSI Comes to Worley

On Friday, November 3, every student enjoyed a COSI presentation about chemistry. Later in the day, each grade level actively participated in various chemistry experiments. Every student went home with a container of slime that he or she created.

Thanks to the Worley PTA and all the volunteers who made this day a reality! As one student remarked, "This is the best day in my entire life. I love science!"
