About

Worley Elementary is named for Daniel Worley, who was superintendent of the Canton Public Schools during the 1860s. Mr. Worley also served Canton as a member of city council.

Worley was built in 1918 at a cost of just under $200,000. That's considerably less than the $7.5 million construction project recently Completed. The new construction was part of the Design for the Future building program. Groundbreaking occurred on December 6, 2001 and included remarks by Canton Mayor Richard Watkins, Board of Education Vice President Fred Harold, and former Superintendent Dianne Talarico.

The new Worley Elementary School opened as scheduled in January 2003.
